Trade Marks for First Nations Businesses

Are you a First Nations retailer looking to protect your ideas and grow your business? Join the IP Australia in partnership with Aboriginal Retail Australia for a free and practical webinar about understanding and using intellectual property (IP) to support and protect your brand.

Presented by IP Australia’s Josh Roberts and Keeley Pasfield, this session will walk you through the basics of trade marks and give you plenty of time to ask questions in a live Q&A.

Josh Roberts is a Barkindji-Wiradjuri descendent from Dubbo NSW and currently Assistant Director of the Indigenous and Strategic Engagement Team at IP Australia. He has 10 years of experience working in the Australian Public Service leading or contributing to projects that seek to improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, communities, and businesses -with a strong focus on protection and respectful use of Indigenous Knowledge. In 2020 he became IP Australia’s first Indigenous executive level staff member and is passionate about creating pathways for others to follow and keeping culture strong for future generations.

Keeley Pasfield is an Assistant Director in IP Australia’s Public Education team. Keeley began her career with her own business as an exercise physiologist. She was a sole trader specialising in high performance with track and field athletes, before a career change into Intellectual Property. She has held multiple roles at IP Australia, working within trade mark examination, people and training, and customer experience.
